Amelia’s Mechanics to Release New Album With A-Train

A-Train is pleased to welcome Amelia’s Mechanics for exclusive worldwide digital distribution.

The all-female trio’s vocal harmony and instrumentation combine country, jazz, and classical to create a unique sound resembling vintage country with a moonshine twist. Fronted by singer / song-writers Molly McGinn and Molly Miller and backed by a talented group of musicians from Nashville, TN; Amelia’ Mechanics provide a sophisticated take on Americana music using luxuriating harmonies and classical swells to temper their lyrical frustrations with love and life.

Since releasing their debut Album “North South” in February 2010, Amelia’s Mechanics set out on their inaugural tour pleasing crowds from Florida to West Virginia. After the tour the ladies will be returning to North Carolina in June to begin recording a follow up record at Echo Mountain Studios.

Peter Rowan Signs With Compass Records

We’re pleased to announce that Peter Rowan, Compass Records has signed a record deal for The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band.

Co-founded in 1994 by musicians Alison Brown and Garry West, Compass is a new breed of roots-music label: eclectic, sophisticated, and artist-friendly. Called “one of the greatest independent labels of the last decade” by Billboard Magazine, Compass Records has provided a thriving haven of creativity for artists and a reliable beacon of quality for music fans. Its 2006 acquisition of the Green Linnet catalog and the 2008 acquisition of the seminal Mulligan Records label has made Compass the place to go for Celtic and roots music.

The Peter Rowan Bluegrass Band consists of dyed-in-the wool traditional players with over 100 years of combined live gigging experience. Joining guitarist Peter Rowan are Jody Stecher, mandolin; Keith Little, banjo; and Paul Knight, bass. The ensemble has graced the stages of Hardly Strictly Bluegrass, Grey Fox, Merlefest, Rothbury and numerous other festivals, entertaining audiences with original songs executed in vibrant harmony.

Lila Downs Releases Her New Record with A Train

Grammy Award winner and extraordinary vocalist/songwriter Lila Downs joins A Train for the digital distribution of her new live record, Lila Downs Y La Misteriosa En Paris. The CD will be released by Harmonia Mundi / World Village Music and is available in Spain on February 15th, and the rest of Europe and the U.S. in April.

A Train also will be administering Lila Downs’ latest compositions along with some earlier catalog titles.

Along with her extensive worldwide tour dates coming up this Spring, Lila is developing an exciting new musical production of Like Water For Chocolate in conjunction with New York's Public Theatre.
